6,500 vulnerable patients get their autumn vaccine

More than 6,500 of Torbay’s most vulnerable patients have already received their autumn Covid-19 boosters thanks to the efforts of the Torbay General Practice vaccination team.

In just the first week of the autumn vaccination program, the team have administered 5,000 vaccinations at the Riviera International Centre (RIC) in Torquay.

They have also visited 80 of the area’s care homes and provided vaccines to 1,600 residents and staff members. The team will begin vaccination housebound patients on Saturday (Sept 30) – two weeks sooner than scheduled following the emergence of a new strain of the virus.

The programme will extend to all patients from October 9 – and the TGP team are urging as many people as possible to book their appointment at the RIC.

You can book an appointment either through the national booking service or by calling 119. Do not contact your GP practice to arrange your vaccine.

The TGP team were recently recognised for their work since the start of the pandemic by being shortlisted for Vaccination Service of the Year at the General Practice (GP) Awards. TGP is an alliance of ten GP practices in Torbay.
